Staff Support and Donors Make Baseball Dreams Come True

Nothing says summer like a day at the ballpark. Fans of America’s favorite pastime: Jubilee brings you two baseball stories to kick off your August.

Let’s Go O’s: It’s root, root, root for the home team for Loren Williams and Agboola Oladepo as they cheered on the Oriole’s at Camden Yards in Baltimore. Gold Medal and Best Sportsman of the Year Award at Special Olympics: Congratulations to Maryland Special Olympics Softball State Games gold medal winner Ben Levy and his team the Montgomery County Blue Dogs. Ben also won the Best Sportsman of the Year award after hitting the game-winning home run. Kudos as well for Ben’s direct support staff Fulkra Cassell who threw himself wholeheartedly into the quest for the championship! Fulkra drove Ben to weekly practices and games and cheered him on. Seeing Ben’s competitive drive, Fulkra and Ben spent their free time this Spring at the batting cages working on improving his skills for the big game.

“When I first started to work with Ben, his mom Sharon told me how seriously he takes his athletics and how much he loves sports. I saw how engaged Ben was at practice, and I started to get immersed in it too. I learned a lot from Ben about softball. We started going to the batting cages so he could improve his skills. You should have seen me when he won the gold medal, I was so proud and happy for Ben,” said Fulkra.
