One year ago we shared with you the good news that Linda Hanna was finally moving to a place of her own with help from Jubilee. Linda loves her new house, where she is supported by award-winning support staff Augusta Lawanson.
Now, on the anniversary of the big move we’re thrilled to share that Linda has more good news! Cindy Ring joins Linda as her new housemate, filling the house with her joyful personality. The two ladies quickly bonded over their love of shopping and music. They both enjoy playing with Linda’s dog Teddy. A recent housewarming party included many of Linda and Cindy’s friends from Jubilee, where they were showered with good wishes and gifts.
With Augusta’s support, Linda also finally agreed to get long overdue cataract surgery that significantly improved her eyesight. Augusta recently won the Outstanding DSP Award from the InterACC organization of disability providers.
Tina Ukwu is Augusta’s manager at Jubilee, and shared that “Augusta never gave up as Linda’s eye condition worsened. She worked with doctors to get second opinions, and when Linda finally agreed to the surgery, Augusta stayed with her overnight at a hotel near the hospital in Baltimore to ease her worries. Throughout all that Linda has been through, Augusta has been there for her. She has become so much more than support staff, she is a friend, an advocate, and a family member.”
