Volunteer Work Expands Social Circle

This Spring, Javier (Javi) Requejo started volunteering at A Wider Circle. This local non-profit helps local families get a leg up out of poverty with services and free furniture and household items.

Javi helps clean and test household appliances, and creates bedding bundles of sheets and blankets for families in need. His favorite job by far is getting the toys ready for the children.

“I love working to get the toys ready because it makes me feel like a kid again!” Javi shared with a big smile. The best part for Javi though is making new friends with all the “nice people” he’s met.

Daniel Garcia is Javi’s program manager at Jubilee. He oversees the support team that helps Javi be independent, and said that “It is great to see his community grow through his volunteer work at A Wider Circle. He is getting involved in activities that support others that live in his community. I know this makes him proud.”
