Earlier this summer Jubilee had a unique request for a volunteer. We were seeking help at our front desk a few hours a week. Sara Sonet answered the call.

Sara’s been part of the Jubilee family for nearly two decades. Her son Sam once received support from Jubilee, and now she’s proud that he’s living and working on his own. Sara stayed active with Jubilee as a Champions of Inclusion Society donor.

“Our family has a deep Jubilee web behind us. I feel so grateful for the kind of support we received,” said Sara. “When I bumped into Steve and Bethany Keener and they told me about this volunteer opportunity at the office I offered to help out.”

After a long career as a research librarian at the U.S. Supreme Court, Sara keeps active with several volunteer roles. Adding Jubilee to the mix was a natural fit.  Sara shares that she’s learned a lot about Jubilee as an administrative volunteer.

“Volunteering gives me a wonderful window on how Jubilee operates, and why it is so successful,” said Sara. “I’m connected now in a different way to the energy that propels Jubilee forward. I have a much better sense of the people being served and the quality of the people serving them. It is uplifting for me to have this opportunity.”
