“Please don’t call my house a group home,” says David McCormack. “This is where I hang out, this is where I have my friends over. This is my home.”
And what a home it is. The house gleams with fresh paint, new shutters, and refreshed landscaping. All thanks to volunteers from Rebuilding Together Montgomery County.
“The volunteers did an excellent job,” said David. He and Kelly Robinson have lived here together for years. They take pride in their home. Louis Cox recently moved in, and they quickly bonded over a shared love of sports. Louis “loves the house, and loves Jubilee.”
All three men receive support from a dedicated team of direct support professionals. This includes award-winning staff Ellison Bempah. He looks on fondly as the guys chatter happily about their refreshed home, and their life together.
“We love having fun together. Jubilee’s my family,” David says while putting his arms around Ellison and Louis. “When I met Ellison, I knew we were going to be perfect together. He goes above and beyond for us.”
From simple pleasures like going together to get haircuts to hosting friends, David, Kelly, and Louis have built a happy home life. Now the look of the home mirrors the joy found within these four walls.
