Direct support professionals are often the unsung heroes in the lives of people Jubilee supports to live independently. Two of Jubilee’s outstanding direct support professional staff recently received state-wide recognition by the Maryland Association of Community Services (MACS). Please join us in congratulating Helen Okoye, who supports Jason Howlin, and Chinwe Ukoh, who supports Kobi Cudjoe, Todd Locke, and Tico Sanz. Both Chinwe and Helen received the 2024 Excellence in Direct Support Award at MACS annual meeting.
“Jubilee direct support professionals make a difference every single day in the lives of the people they support,” said Steve Keener, Jubilee Executive Director. “They do their work humbly and often without recognition of how they make it possible for people with disabilities to live on their own. These awards are an opportunity to celebrate the important role of direct support professional staff. It’s especially gratifying that both Helen and Chinwe were nominated for these awards by the mothers of people they support, who value the role of direct support professionals in the lives of their adult children.”
