A Commitment to Service

Veterans Day Reflections from Jubilee Staff

For Jubilee’s employees who are military veterans, service is the throughline in their careers. We’re proud to honor your service to the country this Veterans Day and thank you. As Veterans Day approaches this November 11, a few of Jubilee’s employees who are veterans share their reflections with you.

“Serving in the military taught me how to lead teams and solve tough problems, which turned out to be the perfect foundation for my work in housing. Now at Jubilee, I get to use those same skills every day to help adults with developmental disabilities find safe, welcoming places to call home.” —Felicia Denman, Program Director of Housing Support Services

“After walking across the stage to receive my high school diploma, I knew the next step in my life was to enlist in the Armed Forces where I could strengthen and replicate those skills that I had been blessed with as a part of my calling in my life, that of keeping others safe.  My desire and purpose to share my mechanical skills and knowledge didn’t stop after my discharge from military service. It is rewarding to share my skills and knowledge in navigating the necessary elements needed to provide safe transportation for our Jubilee family.”  —Jean Zephir, Transportation Coordinator

“To me, service has never been limited to wearing a uniform. My experience in the Navy has reinforced the importance of compassion, accountability, and standing up for others. At Jubilee, I continue that mission by helping people find stability and independence.” —Maria Martinez, Senior Housing Support Specialist
